An embed says “unavailable” or shows a login wall
Why some social embeds fail, and what actually works.
Embeds are served by the platform itself, and each platform has rules:
- Instagram / Facebook — only *public* posts embed, and the platform decides per post. Private, restricted or some older posts show “unavailable”. Try another post; profile links always work as a button.
- LinkedIn — only individual posts embed (URLs containing an activity ID). Profile and company pages become a button.
- Strava — the activity must be public (check your Strava privacy settings).
- Duolingo / Medium / Etsy / Shopify — the account, shop or profile must be public.
When an embed can't render, Viby shows a clean branded button instead — your page never displays a broken frame.
